This deadstock work coat was made by EZIFIT INDUSTRIAL WEAR in a stiff, hardy cotton. Included with the coat is an unusual garment tag, which is made from a thick cardboard and stitched onto the inside of the coat's front placket at the base of the garment. As the tag indicates, the coat was made in South Australia from a preshrunk fabric, which means it should not shrink further when washed but ought to soften up with wear. The coat is clearly made to be practical, with a three button front and broad notched lapel, two waist pockets stitched into the side seam and a patch pocket at the breast, a handy waist belt which allows the coat to be cinched, and a back vent for movement. The coat is cut long and roomy, to provide coverage over other garments and allow easy movement, but the sleeves are cut with a curve to follow the shape of the arm.
